Majority of these courses can be completed six months full-time, or twelve months part-time. The tuition fees also vary, ranging from the early to mid thousands, depending on which educational intuition you attend. 

You can complete a diploma of accounting at a university or Training organisation, but Training NZ also offers online courses from various institutions, such as an advanced diploma of accounting, which you can complete in your own time.

What does an accountant do?

Broadly speaking, an accountant is someone that offers financial services to individuals or corporate entities. This includes preparing and reviewing financial reports, along with ensuring that all of the internal control procedures and legal principles have been followed and taken into account.

Once they compile all of the necessary information, such as tax documentation and records of financial transactions, they then go through all the information with their client. Other duties include sending invoices to accounts and ensuring that all their information remains confidential, aligning with professional standards and ethics. 

The average salary for an accountant in New Zealand is $54,124 per annum. 

What are the entry requirements for a diploma of accounting?
