Certificate IV Courses

If you're a New Zealand citizen looking to complete short courses that will allow you work in an industry at the entry-level, with room to study and grow within the industry, then a Certificate IV may be the perfect qualification level for you!

What is a Certificate IV?

A Certificate IV is the final Certificate level qualification before entering into diploma level training and above. It can be completed after a Certificate III or as a standalone qualification, provided you meet the entry requirements. Equally, you can complete a Certificate IV and go straight into work, or you can choose to enrol in further study.

A Certificate IV usually includes some level of experience in the field, acquired via traineeship or work placement during the course, which creates graduates of a higher calibre with practical skills as well as foundation skills which are critical in the workplace. There are Certificate IV courses in a range of areas, including:

  • Work health and safety
  • Human Resources
  • Dental Assisting
  • Hair and Beauty
  • Administration
  • Risk Management

and many many more!

How to study

If you’re interested in completing a Certificate IV through Vocational Education and Training, then there are several ways to study.

Training providers may have different entry requirements, as well as recognition of prior learning. At a certificate IV level, you’ll be expected to maintain your study at a higher level than one of the less strenuous certificates, and equally allows for you to complete more prestigious training later, including completing an advanced diploma or higher education. As such, you may want to complete a Certificate III or equivalent if you don’t meet the entry requirements for your chosen RTO.
