This programme will provide you a broad understanding of the core concepts and practical skills in IT, with a technical support focus. Learn about various operating systems and how to programme robust websites while developing knowledge of IT operations and IT management. You will operate within the applicable professional standards and practice, as part of a team, or independently with a broad level of supervision.
This qualification prepares students for the following international certifications: CompTIA A+, Cisco CCNA and ITIL Foundation.

- Network Technologies: Provides the knowledge of fundamental concepts of networking principles, area networks, virtualisation, and cloud technologies which will assist student how to configure, secure user systems, and troubleshoot
- Programming: Provides the basic concepts of programming, and different data and control structures in programming which will help develop skills in designing, writing, testing, and debugging computer programs
- Technology in Society: Introduces the evolution of computing world which includes the current and emerging technologies, technical needs and its impact to the society
- Web Design & Database Applications: Provides the skills and knowledge to design and create robust websites implementing HCI principles and usability tests to meet user requirements as well as knowledge of database fundamentals and implementation of a database application in solving business problems
- Computer Network Principles: Provides fundamental knowledge and skills to build, configure, deploy, and troubleshoot a computer network. It also includes monitoring systems to ensure network availability
- Operating Systems: Provides students with skills and knowledge of various operating systems and its applicability to a business. Includes operating systems installation, configuration and troubleshooting concepts to resolve technical issues and manage OS environments using CLI and GUI-based utilities
- Security Fundamentals: Provides fundamental concepts of network security in identifying threats and vulnerabilities and application of security best practices, appropriate methods, and tools to mitigate them and resolve technical issues
- IT Support & Service Management: Apply the concepts of IT service management to plan, deliver and support delivery of IT services to organisations and end uses for optimal operations

Entry requirements
- Open entry with interview
- It is recommended that you hold a qualification in Information Technology OR Computing at Level 3/4 and above, and/or NCEA level 2/3 OR overseas high school certificate
International Onshore English Requirements
- IELTS Academic score of 5.5 with no band less than 5.0 or NZCEL (Academic) Level 4 or equivalent
- A valid visa and insurance
This programme requires students to have access to a laptop/desktop that can connect to the internet with a web browser and a required minimum screen size of 10 inches. For device specifications, please talk to your Course Advisor.
Pathways
Upon completion, this programme can land you roles as a computer technician, help desk technical support, network system administration, or application support analyst.
You can also pursue further IT based studies at NZSE College from Level 6 and above.
