What you'll learn

  • Learn to lead parts of a project
    Either in a support position or under guidance from a senior project manager, you will be able to take control of aspects of a project – contributing successfully to the overall performance of a project.
  • Understand project management
    How do you project manage? What are the key principles of project management? In this qualification you will come away with a good understanding of how project management works and how you can successfully lead a project.
  • Improve your toolkit
    Have in your arsenal ways to solve project problems and know which tools to select and use for different issues.
  • Gain technical know how
    There are many stages to project management. Give yourself the technical knowledge to scope a project, control, budget, monitor, breakdown workflows and execute. You will also be introduced to GANT charts and other technical project management support tools.
  • Be a communicator
    Throughout a project you will be expected to engage and communicate with a range of stakeholders. Learn how to involve stakeholders in the right way and how to communicate key information clearly.
  • Be a risk manager
    Learn the importance of risk management and contingency planning in project management.
  • Develop leadership skills
    In all projects there is an element of leadership required. Learn and understand some of the core techniques to successful team management.
  • Achieve project objectives and milestones
    Understand the importance of project milestones and how you as an individual can collaborate and contribute to achieving objectives in your team.

    Online delivery - online course content with the exception of assessments and work placement

    In class delivery - predominately face to face course content conducted at a specific location

    Virtual Delivery - Live and interactive classroom-style learning conducted completely online

Duration study load

  • Part-time: 40 weeks | Full-time: 20 weeks
  • Indicative hours per week: Part-time: 15 | Full-time: 30

Delivery

This qualification is made up of four courses. Each course is delivered over 10 weeks. To complete one of the courses successfully in the 10 weeks you must be prepared to devote approximately 15 hours per week to your study. Depending on your previous academic online experience and course level this may vary to a certain degree.

Entry requirements

Academic requirements:

  • 40 credits NCEA Level 1, including 10 literacy credits and 10 numeracy credits

Alternative requirements:

  • Skills for tertiary study (including literacy and numeracy) may be acquired through study, work and/or life experience. Students who can demonstrate these skills may be approved for alternative entry.

English requirements:

  • If English is not your first language you may also be required to provide evidence of your English language skills as listed below. If you have no evidence of your English language skills and are a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident, contact us for an assessment.
  • IELTS 5.5 Academic (no lower than 5.0 in any subtest). For acceptable alternatives refer to the English Proficiency Outcomes Chart.

Note: Students who have achieved NCEA Level 3 University Entrance requirements are not required to provide evidence of English Language Skills.

Professional recognition

All qualifications will be awarded by one of these providers. Courses completed through eCampus NZ are industry recognised and accepted by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA). Graduates may attend the graduation ceremony of the relevant tertiary partner and will receive a parchment from the institute at which they enrolled.
