What you'll learn
- You will become an effective leader
An effective leader is someone who understands their own leadership style and the style of those around them. You will learn how to identify the ways you can improve and strengthen your leadership skills – leading to greater professional and personal development. - You will become a communicator
Communication is key – whether you are motivating your team, handling customers or expressing wants and needs to your senior managers. With a qualification in First Line Management you will learn the skills to liaise with stakeholders in a range of industries and sectors. This could include customers, clients, patients, suppliers, councils, unions or shareholders. Through our training you will acquire the skills to engage and communicate confidently and effectively. - Learn how to apply the latest leadership techniques to your workplace
A qualification in First Line Management will give you the skills you need to immediately make change in your work place. Our management techniques are easily applied to any role, in any sector. Lead from the front and be a change manager. - Learn critical conflict skills
As a manager you will have to deal with conflict at some point in your career. This might include liaison with staff or senior management or managing adverse situations that are out of your control. Through our specialised training you will learn successful techniques and strategies for managing difficult circumstances and handling conflict successfully. - Understand staff performance
If you have staff, you will be involved in performance reviews. Through this course of study you will learn about key performance indicators, the review process, training and development and identifying staff resources and abilities. - Motivate and inspire
Create a positive and productive work environment. A qualification in First Line Management will give you the skills to motivate your team for success. - Achieve your workplace objectives
Learn how to develop a plan which will help you allocate, manage and evaluate workflows and resources to achieve team and individual objectives.

Delivery
Entry requirements
- Academic
Requirements: 40 credits NCEA Level 1, including 10 literacy credits and 10 numeracy credits or New Zealand Certificate in Business (Introduction to Team Leadership) (Level 3). - Experience
Even if you don’t have the necessary qualifications you may still be approved for entry if you can show you have the literacy and numeracy skills needed for tertiary study through other study, work and/or life experience. Please contact us for more information. - Language
If English is not your first language you may be required to show that your English language skills meet IELTS 5.5 Academic (no lower than 5.0 in any subtest) or English Proficiency Outcomes Chart equivalent.
If you have no evidence of your English language skills and are a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident, contact us for an assessment. - Students with NCEA Level 3 University Entrance are not required to provide evidence of English Language Skills.
Professional recognition
All qualifications will be awarded by one of these providers. Courses completed through eCampus NZ are industry recognised and accepted by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA). Graduates may attend the graduation ceremony of the relevant tertiary partner and will receive a parchment from the institute at which they enrolled.
